| Responsibilities |
- Annually reviews and makes recommendations to Executive Management for improvement of the company’s policies, procedures, and practices on personnel matters.
- Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures the company’s compliance.
- Responsible for the company’s compliance with Federal, California state, and local legislation pertaining to all personnel matters (Occupational Safety and Health Act, Equal Employment opportunity, wage and hour, Employee records administration)
- Communicates changes in the company’s personnel policies and procedures and ensure proper compliance is followed
- Assists Executive Management in the annual review, preparation, and administration of the company’s wage and salary program
- Evaluate and oversee administration of benefit programs and recommend improvement. Programs to include: medical, dental, vision, vacation, 401K, and other benefits
- Review and approve all reviews, recruitment, transfers, warning notices, counseling sessions, and termination records
- Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, and/or as directed by Ownership and General Manager on personnel matters
- Works directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters
- Interact with employees in a way that builds openness, trust, confidence in the pursuit of organizational goals and lasting relationships
- Recommends, evaluates, and participates in Staff Development for the company
- Post job openings per company policy
- Ensures interviews are conducted according to recommended guidelines, consistent screening criteria is used, and only job-related questions are asked
- Ensures FLSA practices are established and followed
- Monitors work environment for signs of union organization
- Strives to improve associate retention by providing guidance and feedback to help individuals develop and strengthen their skills
- Ensure workers compensation claims are properly documented and reported.
- Ensure that there is an active safety committee at the Hotel and that safety programs are implemented
- Foster an environment that motivates employees to follow safety procedures
- Coordinates and/or conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separation
- EEO-Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws that includes the ability to administer and monitor Affirmative Action programs and analyzing diversity reports
- Ensures performance evaluation and merit increases are conducted timely, increases are processed correctly, and the process is completed
- Maintain grace under pressure
- Supervises the staff of the Human Resources Department
- Control expenses within the Human Resources Department
- Participates on committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities
