SUMMARY
Leads and directs engineering function prioritizing strategic planning, product design, quality assurance and problem resolution. Responsible for partnering with operational stakeholders to develop systems and controls to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards. Responsible for the maintenance operations of all hotel facilities in addition to Island wide capital expenditure program and operational construction projects.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintains adequate records to include prints, permits, occupancy certificates etc.
  • Performs financial analysis, budgeting, and capital expenditure program for all associated Engineering operation.
  • Ensures life safety systems are maintained in accordance with all regulatory agencies.
  • Plans, budgets, and schedules engineering modifications including cost estimates, bid sheets layouts, and contracts for construction and maintenance and the general preventative maintenance throughout the property.
  • Inspect construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established specifications and agreements.
  • Oversees the coordination planning, scheduling, and completion of all related projects throughout the Resort.
  • Oversees and directs maintenance colleague and contractors engaged in maintaining the facilities of the operations.
  • Responds to the needs of the operations and is team oriented.
  • Advises management on scheduling, budgeting, and implementation of projects, forecasting of completion dates, etc.
  • Designs, plans, upgrades, and maintains an effective preventative maintenance program always ensuring efficiency.
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates the work of the department ensuring high levels of efficiency.
  • Maintains records of the operating cost of all plants and equipment and ensure productivity and profitability.
  • Ensures all colleagues are knowledgeable of safety rules and regulations and abides by same.
  • Ensures colleagues report for duty punctually, wearing the correct uniform and/or proper attire and identification badge at all times, and are maintaining grooming standards.
  • Interviews for selection and development of colleagues to meet the needs of the department.
  • Analyzes training needs of colleague. Trains and develops colleague to meet the needs of the department.
  • Manage and direct team ensuring correct procedure and methods of service are adhered to.
  • Performs other duties as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction technology or related fields
  • Five or more years of engineering operations experience in a corporate office environment (strong preference for hotel or related environment)
  • Extensive knowledge of building trades to include electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing and general building
  • Knowledge of facility regulations and safety standards (OHSA, EPA, ADA, CFC, NFPA
  • Working knowledge of estimating cost control, field operations, and administration
  • Well-organized self-starter with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Exposure to unionized operation
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Project, Word, Excel and Outlook
