Arthur “Arte” Nathan is a veteran hospitality and casino gaming industry authority on how the profession of human resources impacts every property—big or small. For the past 12 years, he’s been President of Strategic Development Worldwide, a global consulting practice that focuses on human capital management and development, Professional assessments, and executive coaching.
As the first HR leader in the high volume hiring of Las Vegas’ integrated resorts, his “hire for attitude and train for skills” philosophy brought a high-tech high-touch approach to hiring. He was an early pioneer of using technology for applicant tracking strategies commonly used today. He followed that up with the first paperless HR environment in the hospitality industry.
Arte’s Management Development Program was the centerpiece of college recruiting that discovered and trained hundreds of today’s industry leaders. The collective bargaining agreements that he negotiated with Unite Here set the standard for streamlined practices, partnerships between management and labor, and ground-breaking 5-and 10-year contracts.
The enlightened practices that Arte championed in our industry resulted in record high morale and low turnover for the many properties in the US and China that he was associated with over his 40-year career. And not the least of his incredible firsts included selecting Bentley Price Associates for their first placement in the gaming industry.
Arte is a longtime friend and mentor. It is an honor to add his name to the Bentley Price Associates’ Best of The Best list for September 2022.
